Architecture with a client and site focus

In every project, I focus on understanding my client’s needs and vision for their home. As a residential architect in Lexington, I see the existing site as a key driver of design. The landscape, natural light, and relationship to surrounding buildings all inform how a space can take shape. By grounding each project in its context, I create custom home designs that are both functional and uniquely connected to their setting.

What to expect as a client

I strive to make functional, thoughtful design accessible; thus, it is important to be clear about the services I offer. Here's what you can expect when you get in touch with me about my residential design services.

1
Initial consultation

The first step is to meet to discuss your project. Typically, I will come to your property to get a sense of the project's scope.

2
Contract and scope of work

Next, I will draw up a scope of work and present you with a contract that details the work I will do for you. Design work will not start until the contract is returned.

3
Pre Design Phase Measurement & Site Drawings

Before I can design your new space, I will need to measure your space and create drawings of the existing structure and/or property. I strongly recommend clients have a site survey of their property completed by a local surveyor. This site survey will outline all property lines and ensure we are building within the property. It's very common for building inspections to ask for a site survey before submitting the permit.

4
Schematic Design Phase Proposal

Designing is a collaborative process between designer and client. Typically, after I understand your requirements and the existing property, I will spend some time concepting the schematic design and coming up with a few options that I will compile into a presentation. In a second meeting we can narrow down the options. These schematic designs can take the form of sketches, measured drawings, and/or 3D renderings.

5
Design Development & Construction Drawings

When we choose the design concept direction, I will create construction drawings that we will use for the permitting process. At this stage, I can also obtain engineering sign-offs and building permits on your behalf (you will be billed for these costs). Once the building permits are obtained, and a reliable contractor is secured, you're ready to build!

Let's discuss your project.

Experiential Design & 3D Design Bring Ideas to Life

Experiential Design: I've also designed for internationally-known experiential marketing firms, working with well known brands (e.g., IBM, Mercedes-Benz, Chobani, Cover Girl). I'm always happy to consult with firms, or to work directly with emerging brands looking to make an entry into high-end trade shows or other marketing events.

3D Design & Visualization: One of my favorite activities is to create photo realistic 3D renderings. Whether you're an architecture studio looking to give your clients a better idea of what their finished product will look like, a brand in need of a logo/animation/character design, or a collector on the hunt for custom art, I'd be happy to work with you!
