Every home deserves a beautiful exterior that reflects the thoughtfulness of its interiors. For this Woodland Park residence in Lexington, the brief was clear: design a modern, sustainable, and accessible outdoor living space that also enhances the home's aesthetic presence.

At the heart of the project is a deck crafted from Dasso fused bamboo—a sustainably harvested material with exceptional durability. Combined with an ADA-compliant ramp system, the deck ensures that all family members and guests can move freely and comfortably through the space. To minimize visual barriers and enhance flow, we integrated planters between ramp segments in place of traditional railings. This strategy softens transitions and brings greenery directly into the architectural language of the design.

A key feature of the design is the copper-clad exterior finish. Over time, the copper will oxidize, developing a natural patina that enriches the material’s character and deepens its connection to the evolving seasons. This deliberate aging was intended to lend the home an organically dynamic facade that continues to tell a story long after construction is complete.

The result is much more than a functional patio—it’s a carefully considered outdoor extension of the home that emphasizes sustainability, accessibility, and beauty.
