Interior View: Under construction
Illustration of exterior with new gable
This attic conversion and bump-up transformed unused attic space into a bright and functional play area for a young child. The design allows the parents to reclaim their home office while preserving the architectural character of this charming Lexington home. Inside, the loft offers an open play zone beneath a vaulted ceiling, with new stairs connecting it to the main level. This flexible layout can adapt over time as the family’s needs evolve. While planning for the new center play/ hangout area we also created left and right wings under the existing gable. These wings will be really unique and cozy reading nooks.
The renovation integrates seamlessly with the existing exterior, using materials and proportions that complement the original Craftsman-inspired style. We took inspiration from the existing house and used the pitch of the small front porch gable to inform the larger new gable. This project is currently under construction.
