Existing limestone barn
3D render of the interior cafe seating area
Set in the rolling fields of Winchester, Kentucky, this project transforms a historic limestone barn into a vibrant café and educational hub. The design respects the barn’s rugged stone heritage while introducing warm modern touches of wood, glass, and bright red accents. Visitors will enjoy farm-to-table meals in the café, with seating that spills outdoors onto sunlit decks, patios, and gardens.
Beyond dining, the space serves as a teaching school, where guests and students can learn about sustainable farming, cooking, and community food culture. The farm master plan integrates working fields, greenhouses, and garden paths, inviting people to experience the connection between land, food, and architecture.
This adaptive reuse project preserves Kentucky’s rural character while fostering a new gathering place for learning, nourishment, and connection.
